Before the early inhabitants occupied the place “cang-atuyom”, PAHO” the previous name of the barangay because of a very big pho tree growing in the barangay. The barangay was discovered by many sources of water. Once upon a time, during a bad weather, some people living in the barangay saw a very big “TUYOM” in one of the water source. They wonder why Tuyom existed in fresh water in fact Tuyom existed only in sea water. So, the people in the barangay had a conference to named the barangay”CANG-ATUYOM” instead of PAHO since then to present, the name of Cang-atuyom was handed down to recent time.
